# 17. Your working-context and handoff card

Use this with [saving and reusing context](https://cowanworks.com/aicourse/learn/course-2/lesson-3) and [keeping it current](https://cowanworks.com/aicourse/learn/course-2/lesson-17). This is complete practice material for this course; no earlier purchase is required.

**Current fictional source R1 v2:** equipment checklist maintained by Operations; kit-count request due Wednesday noon. Earlier R1 v1 had no deadline. No purchase approval or message delivery is recorded.

Make one chat for interpreting R1 and another for drafting a staff reminder. Paste R1 v2 in both. Ask the second chat to quote the deadline and owner. If it cites v1, correct the active source and retry in a fresh chat. Keep the approved master in your normal document storage.

```
Current job: prepare a factual staff reminder from R1 v2.
Confirmed: Operations owns the equipment checklist. The kit-count
request is due Wednesday noon. Superseded: R1 v1 had no deadline.
No message has been sent and no purchase is approved.
Next: read back the source/version, owner and deadline; then draft
three lines with those facts. Flag missing access before using a file.
```

For a long conversation, first generate and check a handoff with the goal, current source, approved decisions, unresolved items and next action. Compaction may summarize older working context; preserve the original facts yourself. A new chat still needs the relevant source. Archive the old chat after saving its useful result; check the product's memory controls separately.
